CATL Brings Full Storage Lineup to Brazil, Teams Up with Moura for Capacity Auction

Sep 8th,2026 54 Views
SÃO PAULO, Brazil | August 25, 2026 – The Smarter E South America 2026 kicked off this week with CATL showing off its entire energy storage ecosystem on the show floor. From cell R&D and energy management software to project execution and after-sales support, the Chinese battery maker is laying out its full value chain for Brazilian buyers. The bigger news came with a separate announcement: CATL has signed a strategic cooperation with Brazilian battery manufacturer Moura, and the pair will jointly bid in Brazil's upcoming Capacity Reserve Auction for Energy Storage. It's a clear signal that CATL is playing the long game in Brazil's power sector.

Storage Portfolio Built for Brazil's Grid

CATL brought a broad range of utility-scale storage systems to São Paulo, each aimed at specific pain points in Brazil's electricity market.
Headlining the booth is TENER S, the company's latest storage solution with a 20-year design life and zero degradation in capacity and power during the first year of operation. Its integrated liquid cooling system cuts auxiliary power consumption by up to 20%, helping lower ongoing operating costs. The system also boosts areal energy density by 30% while shrinking site footprint by 20%, reducing balance-of-system costs. That's a meaningful advantage in a market where grid instability keeps complicating renewable integration. TENER S has already been picked for major international projects, including a 1.5 GWh installation in Spain and the Supernode development in Australia.
For high-density utility and industrial applications, CATL is featuring TENER H, which uses 575 Ah cells to pack 9,008 kWh into a single container. That configuration improves land utilization by 45%, a real cost advantage where real estate is expensive. The system supports flexible 2-, 4-, and 8-hour configurations. The 2-hour variant targets fast-response grid stabilization, while the longer-duration options achieve up to 96.0% round-trip efficiency for extended discharge cycles.
Also making its Brazilian debut is TENER Sodium, a 30 MWh integrated sodium-ion system CATL launched globally just recently. It comes with a 20-year design life, 95% round-trip efficiency, stable operation from -20°C to +45°C, and IEC/UL/CE certifications. The system integrates battery management, power conversion, and thermal management subsystems optimized for sodium-ion chemistry, enabling faster site deployment and improved field reliability. It's backed by CATL's newly commissioned whole-station testing facility in Xiamen, which validates grid-connected performance under real-world conditions.

Local Partnerships and a Growing Brazilian Footprint

"CATL's commitment to Brazil rests on three fundamental pillars: partnership, proven delivery, and localized service," said Ray See, Executive President of CATL's Americas Energy Storage Business Division. "While we provide world-class storage solutions, our broader mission is to build self-sustaining capabilities on the ground."
That message landed with the Moura partnership announcement. The collaboration combines CATL's advanced storage solutions with Moura's local manufacturing and market knowledge, supported by a second strategic partner holding the largest PCS/inverter market share in Brazil. The alliance is structured to enable localized production that meets the auction's domestic content requirements.
CATL already holds a 45% market share in Brazil's energy storage sector, with projects spanning utility transmission, agriculture, cold-chain logistics, and industrial facilities. The landmark Registro project, Brazil's first utility-scale battery storage system in the transmission segment, has been supporting a substation serving 15 municipalities and roughly 2 million residents since December 2022.
CATL's local service network now includes five senior storage specialists and more than 140 certified engineers across South America. They support a tiered response framework: one-hour remote support, two-day on-site dispatch, and five-day cross-regional expert escalation. Regional inventory is backed by four global core warehouses and over 50 front-end stocking points, with core spare parts guaranteed for up to 20 years.

Global Credentials That Matter for Financing

CATL's industry standing recently got validation from three major energy sector evaluators. S&P Global Energy named CATL a Tier 1 supplier in both energy storage battery cells and systems for 2026, ranking it first globally by market share in each category. Wood Mackenzie awarded CATL an "A" grade and placed it among the top three in its inaugural Global BESS Integrator Comprehensive Ranking. BloombergNEF has included CATL on its Tier 1 Energy Storage List for 11 consecutive quarters.
The numbers back it up. CATL's energy storage battery system revenue reached RMB 53.26 billion (approximately $7.9 billion) in the first half of 2026, an 87.54% year-on-year increase. According to SNE Research, the company shipped 125.0 GWh of ESS batteries during that period, the world's largest market share.
Recent project milestones show the full-lifecycle delivery capability. In May 2026, CATL and Solarpro brought online a 602 MWh project in Burgas, Bulgaria, now Eastern Europe's largest operational battery storage facility. In Australia, the Supernode project reached Stage 2 commercial operation in August 2026, with Stage 3 securing A$469 million in debt financing. In the United States, the 380 MW / 1,416 MWh Gemini solar-plus-storage project has been operational since July 2024 and completed US$760 million in refinancing in March 2026.
For buyers and developers tracking the storage market, the takeaway is straightforward: CATL is doubling down on Brazil with a full product lineup, local manufacturing partnerships, and a service network built to last. Whether you're sourcing utility scale battery storage farm components, comparing EVE 3.2V 100Ah LiFePO4 prismatic cell wholesale options, or evaluating C&I peak shaving battery system suppliers, the competitive landscape just got more interesting. Our own utility scale LFP storage cabinet solution and Darong New Energy C&I peak shaving battery system remain available for projects where LFP chemistry and flexible configuration are the priority.
